The program commences annually in October at Tübingen, respectively September at the AUC.
The application window for Tübingen spans from March to May 15th, with no provision for late submissions. Application is only possible during that regular time frame. For applications at Tübingen, please use the online application system ALMA. Kindly note that submissions via email or postal mail are not accepted.
The early admission deadline at AUC for the Fall semester is scheduled for mid-December, and the late admission deadline is set for the End of March. However, for the most accurate and up-to-date information on these dates, please inquire at the AUC’s website as they may be subject to change. Please apply here for AUC.
Eligibility for the CMEPS program requires candidates to:
- Possess a B.A. degree or its equivalent in political science or a related social science, or, applicable to candidates for the University of Tübingen, possess a B.A. degree or its equivalent in Middle East Studies, Islamic Studies, or a related discipline.
- Provide evidence of proficiency in English, such as TOEFL (scores: at least 90 in total with a minimum of 21 points in each section), IELTS (at least 6.5 with a minimum of 7 in the writing section).
- At the University of Tübingen, applicants must have a bachelor’s grade of 2.5 or better on the German grading scale, while at AUC, a GPA of at least 3.2 is required.
- The CMEPS program offers 20 spots annually, with 10 available at each university. Student selection is based on academic capabilities, personal qualifications, and motivation. For detailed selection criteria, please refer here.

- High School Diploma.
- B.A. certificate/ transcripts of records.
- CV (English).
- Letter of motivation (up to 2 pages, English).
- Proof of English language proficiency: TOEFL or IELTS certificate.
- Any additional references, such as evidence of other activities related to the field (internships, work experience, etc.) and/or a letter of recommendation from an academic referee (if applicable, contact details of the academic referee are to be noted in the CV).
